The Road to Oneself
The series of paintings “The Road to Oneself” is inspired by the nature of Serbia and the Balkans. Iconic places appear on the canvases — Banjska Stena, the Uvac River canyon, the Kalemegdan fortress — as well as landscapes typical of the region: fields, mountains, and rivers.
Each landscape is painted in its own color palette, connected with a particular season and mood. Through the diversity of natural states, the artist explores the inner emotional world of a human being. Nature here becomes a mirror in which we can recognize different facets of ourselves, find answers, and discover solace.
These works draw on the tradition of Romanticism, when landscape assumed a special role in art. In a contemporary interpretation, it appears as a living organism filled with divine energy, capable of carrying both chaos and a gift.
“The Road to Oneself” is a journey of returning to one’s true self through contemplation of nature, which reveals to a person their inner depth and connection to the eternal.
